Not Making Money On the Web? Check Out Mistakes People Make in Affiliate Marketing
Success in affiliate marketing is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day. The four steps you need to master to make money on the web are choosing a niche, finding the relevant product to sell, promoting the product, and building the campaign. If you do not do it well, you will not succeed. In this article, I will list down the most common mistakes people make in affiliate marketing – and don’t make money on the web.
1. They select the wrong niche
Some affiliates chose niche markets where there is little odds of making money on the web, like the “free markets”, where buyers are not serious to purchase products. Some others chose a niche that is too broad, where there is little or no chance of people visiting their sites. Another mistake is choosing a niche that is overly competitive–example being ” weight loss” where there are more than 6 million phrase search each month.
2. They select the wrong product to promote
Some affiliates make the mistake of not reading through the sales page, and asking themselves if the sales page will convert and make money on the web. Are the graphics attractive? Is the sales copy convincing? Will you buy the product? For ClickBank products that are digital in nature, you should also check on the Ref% and refund rate. Ref% indicates the percentage of affiliate making sales, and any number over 65% is a safe product to promote. Refund rate is not given but can be calculated. Choose a product that has a lower than 15% refund rate.
3. They are ignorant about the product they promote
The best product review can be written only when you yourself have used the product. Only then can you write convincingly. Write an unbiased review that include enough details about the pros and cons, and what you like about the product. Being ignorant affects your motivation and ability to promote the product. And you can’t make money on the web if you do not know your stuff.
4. They lose focus of their business
Many affiliates make the mistake of trying to do too many things — promoting too many products, trying out a few business model at one go. They don’t set goals for their business, and don’t plan their day. As the quote goes… “Fail to plan, and you plan to fail”. Without a plan, there is little commitment to stay on track, and take action to create web pages, writing articles, building your email campaign, and generating traffic.
Avoid these mistakes, and you will succeed, and start making money on the web in due time!
